High Priestess Brandy was born and raised in a small town in rural Virginia. Living right off Shenandoah National Park, inside of the Blue Ridge Parkway (a part of the Appalachian Mountain range), meant that the Christian faith was frequently proselytized to the often-isolated youth. High Priestess Brandy was born and raised in a small town in rural Virginia. Living right off Shenandoah National Park, inside of the Blue Ridge Parkway (a part of the Appalachian Mountain range), meant that the Christian faith was frequently proselytized to the often-isolated youth. After 16 years of being pushed into Churches, she stopped listening to the adults. Around this time was when she realized she could hear and see the souls of those who has passed on. After going into a spiral of not knowing how to utilize her true calling, a light went off and she realized her place was going to be in helping recently deceased souls walk into their afterlife. She also honed her ability to help the living communicate with their deceased loved ones. This ability was one that she wanted to share with everyone, but found it was not well received. At 17, she went to college directly after high school. In doing so, High Priestess Brandy had found herself deeper in the dogma of a Path she did not follow. After her realization of its effects on her mental health and well being, she returned to her hometown. After some time, she married and had children. High Priestess Brandy went back to college to receive her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Legal Ethics at Purdue University Global followed by her Master of Law (LLM) in Business Laws at University of Virginia. It was after this point in her life that the metaphysical called stronger to her. She decided to go into learning about crystals, herbs, tarot, incense, candles, reincarnation, and the list goes on. All of this activity leads her to a Kemetic Witch Path studying Egyptian Mythology with the deity Anubis. After, her divorce High Priestess Brandy went on to learn more about her Path. In 2014 she regained contact with her High School love, they reunited and married in 2016. It was her husband who then encouraged her to go on to start a PhD in Parapsychology program with the University of Metaphysical Sciences in 2021. We are happy to announce that as of March 2023, her dissertation on reincarnation was approved by the thesis board of UMS. After that Path opened, she decided to look for individuals that walked a similar Path. In her endeavors, she found that there were not a lot of registered Coven-type entities that would also be a legal entity, recognized and respected by others. High Priestess Brandy, with the help of a few others, formed Coven of the Appalachian Mountains. It took a little over a month for the Coven to become recognized in Virginia and the United States. High Priestess Brandy was then ordained by the Council and given the title High Priestess. The path that moved her to create the Coven also moved her to join the National Black Hat Society, where High Priestess Brandy sits as Affiliate Chair today.
MISSION STATEMENT and COMMUNITY GOALS
We are here to support and celebrate Virginia’s diverse community. No matter if your beliefs are Atheist, Polytheist, somewhere in between or have none at all. We are here to preserve and maintain the dignity and honor of being a Pagan, Witch, Healer, Heathen, Earth Child, all around accountable human beings and good stewards of Earth.
We believe that in a world where the technology that drives our society and the currency that circulates it can fail at any given moment, the Practices and teachings of our Ancestors are more important than ever and must be preserved. We value the beliefs, sacred or profane, of all Practitioners.
Although we focus on the root Paths of Virginia Practice, all Paths are honored and respected amongst everyone in our Society as we expect the same in return. We provide a safe and welcoming community to celebrate and commune together free of judgment and political banter. We support our community in many ways, from supporting events to donating to our fund-raising partners and working with our vetted businesses.
Virginia Black Hat Society™, or VirginiaBHS™, or VaBHS™, respects the ways of our Ancestors and will continue teaching the traditions now and for generations to come.
Our Community Goal for Virginia Black Hat Society™ Headquartered near Shenandoah, with Co-Founders and Affiliates throughout the world, Virginia Black Hat Society™ represents many miles of rich magickal landscape, with an equally impressive range of Practitioners to match! We welcome all! VaBHS™ is under the Hat of the National Black Hat Society℠ and is an Affiliate of many other Societies and Charters worldwide. Our BHS Society has practical knowledge obtained from Life and enriched with many Paths, from Atheist to Polytheist and everywhere in between. Whether you are a Solitary Hedge Witch, of the Left-Hand Path, Celtic, Chaos, Agnostic, Eclectic or just a human trying to make it in this World, ALL are welcome to expand and share their knowledge about their Practices with VaBHS. Our aim is to aid Practitioners on their Paths and to help our Community re-establish its place in the World …FULL of Ancestral Traditions. We bring extensive experiences and Practices to share with every Practitioner, objectively supporting them individually or as a peacefully diverse autonomous group. Our Practitioners have been walking their Paths for over forty years. With all of that experience in daily magick, Virginia Black Hat Society™ is on the pulse of modern magickal Practice and Life Path Outcomes with both active Ego and Shadow Work inclusions. The Practitioners of our Society continually monitor and connect with others in varied belief systems and ways of life from around the World to expound upon their evolution of Spiritual Self with exceptional wisdom-sharing to Practitioners of current Practices and Arcane Arts.
